Ecor FPO Leaf

Within the last decade, one could, without any problem, note some factors that had an impact on a long-term transformation of the packaging solutions. In order to meet these requirements, the ECOR Product company undertook, back in 1997, cooperation with the Tetra Pak Filltech company.

As a result - we have been able to introduce the ECOR FPO eco-packaging into our offer. Composition of this material includes minerals and polyolefine plastics. Chalk, contained in the ECOR FPO material is a magnesium-calcium carbonate, while the talc is made out of the magnesium silicate. The aim that is the driving value regarding the ECOR FPO material is to conserve the Earth’s resources.

Thanks to the fact that the quantity of the plastics is minimized within the scope of the packaging materials, we reduce the level of use pertaining the non-renewable energy sources, including crude oil and natural gas.
The minerals are natural - in comparison with the plastics they are easily available in great quantities. They are accumulated in the soil. Using the materials that have a composition similar to ECOR FPO significantly decreases the load imposed on the environment. In turn, this makes it possible to use the ECOR FPO packaging as a recyclable resource in some other production process - as a result, exploitation of the natural resources would be reduced even more. It may also be recycled and used as a recyclable raw material, for production of elements such as bobbins, containers, boxes, wastewater pipes and furniture. The material may also be used in the cement-manufacturing process, providing the minerals and the energy. The plastics used in production include polypropylene and polyethylene. Both of these are the ones that constitute the smallest burden for the environment.

ECOR FPO production process is unique - some of the process phases are protected by patents. Production is carried out in line with the basic rule of manufacturing - the packaging products are created out of a packaging material coil in a continuous process. This is a rational, money-saving and hygienic process. The ECOR FPO middle layer features natural minerals, chalk and talc, all binded by polyoefilines.

Percentage-wise, the individual ECOR FPO components include:
51.5 % of minerals (including: calcium, chalk, titanium dioxide) and 48.5% of polyolefine. Titanium dioxide is used as a white colouring agent.

When it comes to its composition, the ECOR FPO material meets the European legal requirements including the relevant EU directives. It is also manufactured in line with the norms that are in force in the US. The material has been certified by the Polish National Hygiene Institute and the Unilever company. It also is a subject of any needed authorizations you may require.

The material, proposed by our company, has numerous applications. Should the given product require a high-degree of protection from humidity, the ECOR FPO material constitutes a perfect solution here. It is a barrier for steam, which is better than any other polyolefin material. Should good barrier properties regarding oxygen be required, they may be attained by addition of a complemetary surface layer. Barrier properties of the ECOR FPO material are sufficient for pasteurized milk packaging, however, these properties may be enhanced by designing the packaging in a proper way, adding an external surface or adding another internal layer. Flexibility and material sensitivity may be used to shape the Wrap in any way, in accordance with the requirements related to the
packed product. The material is particularly suitable for manufacturing flexible packaging, which can be utilized to contain butter, cottage cheese, ice cream and confectionery products. Many food manufacturers prefer the ECOR FPO material, due to the fact that it is environment-friendly and reasonably priced.

ECOR Product company offers this material in two variants:
ECOR FPO Wrap and ECOR FPO Leaf.

ECOR FPO Wrap is recommended for packing of the following products:

  • extra butter,
  • table butter,
  • butterball butter,
  • butter mixes,
  • oils, cottage cheese (Rolls and Sheets),
  • fromage cheeses,
  • ice cream,
  • yeast,
  • lard,
  • minced meat,
  • sweets.

This material may be successfully used together with standard packing machines, it is usable at normal speeds, which means that customizing the machines for using the FPO does not impose any additional costs to the owner. It has a good shape-memory, it is water resistant, which keeps the products fresh and aesthetically pleasant. It also has very good properties, when it comes to transfer of light and steam, especially in comparison with polyethylene of high and low densities and polypropylene.

ECOR offers several types of the ECOR Wrap materials:

  • classic, white or coloured (grey, yellow, blue),
  • semi-transparent, non transparent, with 100% light barrier.

ECOR FPO WRAP material is available in a variety of thickness variants, from 40 up to 250 microns. The efficiency of the material with a standard thickness of 50 microns is comparable to that of the laminates,
within the range of 13-14 klograms per tonne. This, in connection with the price which is ca. 20% lower in comparison with the traditional laminates makes the ECOR FPO MATERIAL
a very good substitute for the materials used nowadays.

ECOR FPO Leaf is a material that features a thermo-sealable lacquer. It is particularly suitable for packing the following products:

  • fruit and vegetable salads, also the ones with mayonnaise and sauce additives,
  • fish salads, also those with mayonnaise,
  • cream,
  • sauces,
  • confectionery
  • nuts and dried fruits.
  • tea,
  • chips,
  • ice cream,

and dairy products, including:

  • yoghurt,
  • cream,
  • kefir,
  • cottage cheeses,
  • processed cheeses,
  • desserts,
  • animal and vegetable oils.

This material is available within the thickness range between 85 and 100 microns. You may use it as a top-cover film, using transform-type packing machines. It may be used instead of the aluminum foil used as a top cover of PS and PP cups. We offer a full range of shapes and sizes of the lids. There is no need to reconfigure the package-related appliances. The top lids are thermally fixed in temperatures ranging from 135 up to 160 °C. Thus you may utilize the filling machines of top efficiency, when PS or PP cups are used, one may qualify this product as a homogeneous container. The material is strong and flexible.
